Objectives

On completion the student teacher will be able to;
  • Describe the appropriate Standards for Teaching as a profession.
  • Compare the current debates, concepts and issues in education and their relationship to wider political, economic and social developments.
  • Analyze some research problems that underpin practice.
  • List a process entailed in carrying out a small scale research enquiry.

Eligibility

The students who wish to register for the Bachelor of Education Course at the NIE Should fulfill the following qualifications. A student should be;
  • Below 52 years of age
  • Obtain three passes at the GCE Advanced level examination.
  • National Diploma in Teaching or trained teachers’ certificate or a diploma from a recognized Institute leading to a placement in the teacher service equivalent
  • Continuous service from the date of first appointment as a teacher.
The institute may select applicants for admission for this programme, from among those deemed to be eligible for admission under section 6 on the basis of either their performance at a selection test or by an interview or both.

Program Structure

The program of study will consist of 16 courses including, professional, general, practical and academic component offered by the Faculty of alternative & Teacher Education as specified by the rules for the award of the Bachelor of Education Degree Certificate.

The rules will specify the level and the credit rating of each courses in the program. A student shall have successfully completed the program in accordance with the scheme of assessment set out in the rules, for the award of the degree certificate (Total 90 credits)
For the award of the Bachelor of Education Degree a student should have acquired the credits required under table No.09 within the stipulated period.
